The Hardware Store Dipole

Join us for this month's Radio Labs session! We’re building a simple 20-meter dipole antenna using parts you can grab at your local hardware store. It’s perfect for portable ops, field days, or just tinkering with wire in your backyard. We’ll walk through the whole build process together—measuring, cutting, and assembling on-site.

Lab Supplies NEEDED

What to Bring from the Hardware Store:

Spade-type male and female connectors
2 feet of ¾-inch PVC pipe, cut into three 8-inch(ish) sections
¾-inch PVC T-connector
Zip ties
Speaker wire – 25 feet × 2 (clear, stranded, and doubled)
A length of sacrificial coax with a PL connector
Female-to-female PL adapter
Heat shrink tubing (enough for your wire connections)

PMRC RADIO LABS TIMES

10:00am to 2:00pm

10:00am to 11:00am: Social/Setup
11:00am: Lab Starts
1:30pm: Cleanup/Wrapup

Beverage Service (Coffee, Tea, and soft drinks) and light snacks
will be provided

In exchange for FREE use of the Community Center GIANT requires
NO OUTSIDE FOOD or BEVERAGES

ALL refreshments may be purchased in the store.
