Phil-Mont Phield Day 2025

WHEN:

June 28th and 29th, 2025
Setup starting Friday June 27th, usually around 12 Noon
The Field Day Contest starts 2pm Saturday (28th) and continues until 2pm Sunday (29th)

Fort Washington State Park

If it's your first time at Phield Day or you're not sure where to go, find someone at the GOTA station to get started! If it's Friday, call out for Phield Day peeps on the repeater.

The Phil-Mont Repeater will also be monitored throughout the event.
 

Logging:
USB Keys will be provided for logging; no installation is necessary but a functional Windows computer is needed.

Radio License Requirements:
Unlicensed persons, those with Technician Class licenses, or anyone who has not been on HF for over a
year can operate on the HF bands in a low-stress environment at our Get On The Air (GOTA) station under
the supervision and direction of an experienced coach.

Licensed operators are of course welcome to participate to whatever degree they feel comfortable.
Licensed operators are required to bring their license or a photo-copy in order to act as a
control operator of any Field Day station.

PHIELD DAY ACTIVITIES:

Phil-Mont strives to make our Field Day event both fun and ACTIVE. Below is a list of activities planned for field day, weather permitting:

GOTA Station:
If you're a technician or even unlicensed, come GET ON THE AIR at the GOTA station

License Exams:
We will be doing ongoing license exams at field day, tentatively starting 2pm Friday - need to upgrade or get licensed? COME ON DOWN!

DENn Station:
Ask questions, learn about, and experiment with digital modes at the DENn Station

Fox Hunting:
There was talk about potentially doing a small fox hunt - stay tuned!

Demos/Talks:
Learn how to install Anderson Powerpoles, and more!

Camping:
Field Day is a 24-hour contest, so camping is available to Phil-Mont members and their guests only. (First come first serve).
Note that in years past the temperature was fairly hot so keep that in mind when planning to camp.

Experiments:
To be Determined - but we will experiment!

LOGISTICS AND OTHER STUFF:

Everyone is invited to come visit the Field Day site at any time during the activity.
Please be advised we need night time ops. The ops during the day tend to fall off after
dark and are back up for breakfast.

After-Hours Access

AFTER HOUR ENTRY/EXIT TIMES:
10:00PM - 12 MIDNIGHT - 2:00AM ONLY
OVERNIGHT CAMPING ONLY AVAILABLE TO PMRC CLUB MEMBERS and THEIR GUESTS

If you can work at night coordinate with FD control by Cell or Repeater. We have a key to the Militia Hill Gate. We can let you in and out. But this must be coordinated with the ops at the FD site. The gate cannot be left open!!

If you are staying overnight ENSURE that you have enough supplies BEFORE THE GATES CLOSE!

Food

Food is currently listed as pot-luck; if you can bring or make something, please let Charlie K3NOP know, otherwise food is "on your own" currently. Most often we do have coffee/donuts available in the mornings.

Bathrooms:

There are two bathrooms; one at the site which is a "natural" bathroom (no flush), and another with plumbing at the stop sign. You may want to bring supplies with you,
including a latern/light and biodegradeable toilet paper.
